Abstract

The notion of path dependence is firmly entrenched in the minds of organizational scholars. Path dependence alludes to the stickiness associated with specific technological trajectories that economic, technical and institutional forces create. However, we can only be dependent on paths once they have been created. Therefore, besides path dependence, this symposium explores the notion of path creation as well.
