Abstract

One of the most valued activities the division offers is the Junior Faculty Consortium at each Academy of Management meeting. Co-sponsored by the OCIS and TIM Divisions, "OCIS/TIM Camp" is now in its twelfth year. This is an invitation for untenured faculty members to sign up for the full day event on the Saturday pre-conference day of this year's meeting.

The "Camp" involves five veteran faculty members and up to 25 junior faculty who meet together to explore strategies and helpful practices to reduce uncertainty and help junior faculty through the early stages of their careers. We explore professional/collegial issues, and scholarship concerns. This year's topics are still in the formative stages. Tentative topics include discussion of the pros and cons of several important issues, such as, Publication Hallmarks: Quality, Quantity, and Streaming; Revising, Reviewing; and "Do I Stay or Do I Go?" with regard to faculty positions and salaries. But there is still opportunity to shape the agenda: When you sign up for the Camp, let us know what career or scholarship issues are on your mind. While the counselor staff is also still forming, among those committed thus far are tenured faculty with degrees in Business as well as from "disciplines," who have held one position and who have held several, who have published in a variety of journals in- and outside of management, and who have edited or special-edited journals or special issues, all of whom have successfully navigating their junior faculty careers into the upper ranks.

The camp will run from 8:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 7th. Openings for this popular event are limited to 25 "campers." The event is free, but preregistration is required. To sign up, please browse the web site or contact:
