Abstract

The goal of this symposium is to develop a research agenda that can contribute to future theory development and empirical research on organizational creativity. We will invite the audience to work with us in small groups to develop (a) a listing of high priority research questions, and (b) suggestions about how such questions might be answered. The stage will be set by the presentation of three theory development papers. The formal presentations will be brief and the majority of the symposium time will be devoted to the interactive development of research ideas and approaches that have promise for advancing our understanding of organizational creativity. A document that summarizes the research agenda developed during the session will be mailed to all participants following the Academy meeting. With this symposium, we hope to both encourage more systematic, meaningful work on organizational creativity and provide the field with a useful template to guide such research.
