Abstract

Just-in-time human resource management, sell and lease back human resource (HR) programs, and do-it-yourself HR -- all of these phrases characterize how some companies manage outsourced HR functions. This symposium invites senior HR executives to share the rationales of their organizations for outsourcing human resource programs and activities. Our senior HR executives represent a variety of industries and present both operational as well as strategic rationales for HR outsourcing. These executives have also learned from their outsourcing experiences and will share best practices regarding selecting the vendor, managing the outsourcing transition, managing vendor relations, and monitoring vendor performance. HR outsourcing is not a fad and it can enhance the HR value chain as well as support the development of HR as a business partner and strategic contributor to the organization's goals.
